History

In 2022, Mollymook Golf Club is celebrating its 70th Anniversary.

Mollymook Golf Club has a long history with origins that can be traced back to the early 1900’s when a short golf course known as ‘Mollymoke Links’ was established on private property in the area near Collers Beach.

There is a grainy old photograph of golfers hitting across Collers Beach on to a sand green near the rocks at the northern end. Cattle grazed the fairways to keep the grass down and players took it in turns to bring ice from Ulladulla to keep drinks cool.

In 1952, the Mollymook Golf Club was established with the club house and fairways located on private property on the Collers beach side of Riversdale Road. By the 1960’s the property now fondly known as ‘Beachside’ had been purchased and the nine-hole course established. The sand greens were converted to grass and the Club house re-located to take advantage of the stunning views looking north along Mollymook Beach.

What began as a vision in the 1960’s became reality in the 1970’s when the eighteen-hole ‘Hilltop’ golf course and clubhouse were constructed. Over the years the course has become a household name in the Australian golfing fraternity, well known for the challenging design, picturesque fairways and coastal location.

The custodians of the club in those early days had the foresight to ensure Mollymook Golf Club had ownership of both the Beachside and Hilltop properties.

We are proud to celebrate this achievement of 70 years of the club and thank you for your continued patronage.
